NetherLand – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
The short version
NetherLand is a game. It does not ask for your e-mail address, location, contacts or any other personal information, and it has no accounts. We (the makers) have no servers and receive no data from the game at all. The only thing you type in is a nickname, and only if you play together with friends.
What stays on your device
Your progress (unlocked characters, coins, upgrades, best times) and your settings (language, sound, vibration) are saved on your own device only. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.
Playing alone
When you play on your own, NetherLand does not connect to the internet at all.
Playing together (co-op)
Co-op is optional. When you create or join a room, the game connects your device with the devices of the other players in that room:
- What the other players see: the nickname you chose, the character you play, and what happens in the game (where you walk, your powers, emotes and calls such as "HELP!"). This goes straight from device to device over an encrypted connection (WebRTC). As in any game that connects players directly, the other players' devices can see your IP address.
- Finding each other: to bring the players of one room together, the game uses public signalling services: the PeerJS cloud server and the public MQTT brokers of HiveMQ, EMQX and Eclipse Mosquitto. They pass on short messages (the room code, your nickname and connection details) in real time and, like any internet service, see your IP address. If a direct connection between two devices is not possible (on some strict networks), the game messages are relayed through these services instead, over an encrypted connection to the service.
- Nothing is kept by us: we do not run these services and we do not receive, store or sell any of this data. Nicknames and rooms exist only while you play; when everyone leaves, the room is gone. The operators of the public services have their own privacy policies.
The version with ads
If you use a version of NetherLand that shows ads, those ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address and general interaction with the ads. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you are asked for consent first, and you can change your choice at any time under Options > Privacy choices. How Google uses this information is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Children
NetherLand is not directed at children under 13.

NetherLand – Privacybeleid
Laatst bijgewerkt: 28 september 2026
Kort gezegd
